7 Things Sunday- 5.4.24- Old things new
Hey y’all.
im sitting here in the front seat of my other half’s truck. For a min I felt like I was transported back to my 20s where I was I was following this man down dirt roads chasing challenges with a desire to make old things new again. We have the same desire to restore and give life to things that didn’t need to die. That made me think about writing. I was the kid that kept a diary. Whether it was a mead notebook or cow print composition notebook I always loved to write what I was thinking. When I was in the 5th grade I started writing stories about my friends. For a min, you could say I had a book club because I would type up a page of a story and share it every day to different people around me which is is wild because I would have to have a great deal of confidence.
As an adult I used it as a form of expression. I wanted to share and show people the places and things I was doing and seeing. There’s been some ebs and lows with that but for the most part it always comes back. In 2022, I gave myself 30 days to write my life’s work and at 18,036 words I said nahhh this isn’t it. I pivoted and with the help of TikTok and Fiverr and published my first children’s book, Mae & McKinley: Let’s go to the Zoo in 2023. Since then I’ve completed a couple of other books but I still have something I need to get out to the world I feel like 2024 will be that year. Anyone else on a journey of expression ? 2024 I’m going to put something amazing out, fingers crossed.
I met someone who was talking to me about executing and the fact that many people can’t put that foot in front of the other. Sometimes I feel like when I am about to operate in my GREASTEST potential I stop. But I stop to do something smaller for the sake of saying I did something with my time I stress of the thing or things I should be doing. This is strange habit to have and I hope I can break it.
That was a long intro but I guess I had to share what’s on my heart.
Here is my seven things for the week !
1. Made it to market ! 2nd annual Art ad Therapy Festival was wonderful. Shout out to HSA for making this event happen and allowing makers to be a part of it. I had my niece Taijah with me today and that was a sweet moment.
2. C got a new bike ! Walmart in Bastrop has some crazy clearance going on and I was able to score her a big girl bike for $40. It’s a Barbie bike and it has a basket on it. She was so happy. Her precious bike I bought last year had some type of defect I believe. So she wasn’t able to ride it long.
3. We had a team day at work Monday. We rented this beautiful house on the bayou. I took full advantage in some sun bathing.
4. My oldest nephew came into town for a track meet and jumped the pants off of his competitors!
5. Old navy had a 30% off clearance and I PARTOOK. I got so many goodies. Keep your eyes peeled on my YouTube for a haul. I feel like I got all the girls clothes for next fall. Is this how ya’lll shop for your kids ? Or do you just go to the store and buy when they want or need something ? I feel like I save so much money by shopping ahead.
6. I’ve started running ! Well something like that. I’m doing C25K again and I’m actually doing pretty well. I have learned it’s all about pace.
7. I got a walking pad for work ! Which made me get out my Apple Watch that I haven’t used since April 2020. You read that right April 2020! It took 3 hours to get it working.
Today I went to church and the message I was left with was God moves when you deny yourself. ( fasting and prayer ) I love a fast and I am in need of some mental progression so I need to make this happen.
Hope you guys are doing good and I’ll be here next week !
