Mid week brain dump… Teachers

Mid week brain dump… Teachers

Hey good people, happy Wednesday ! I hope this week has been kind to you. I just needed to take a few minutes to share what’s on my chest!

Wednesday,I had the honor of participating in the Teacher of the Year selection process, and I’m still reeling from the emotions. I wanted to capture my thoughts while they were still pure.

Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with the school board, but this particular day hittttt. Listening to stories of everyday people teachers, paras, substitutes, admins who quietly move mountains for kids, and their own families left me in tears more than once.

There’s something sacred about teaching. I don’t think everyone who goes to school for education is called to teach but when someone is called, it shows. One woman shared how she subbed for 13 years before becoming a para and eventually a fulltime teacher. She saw needs and filled them, even when it meant starting over somewhere new. That kind of dedication humbles you.

I didn’t expect to walk away wanting to track down someone on social media just so I could request her as my child’s teacher. The passion, the storytelling, the connection it reminded me that there are people out there who are deeply committed to shaping young lives.

Sometimes giving feels exhausting, especially when you feel like nothing is pouring back into you. But today reminded me why it’s still worth it to show up, to plant seeds, to keep going even when it’s hard.

Our community doesn’t love teachers the way they deserve. Honestly, we don’t love mothers the way we should either. Both roles carry the quiet, consistent work that keeps everything going and both are too often overlooked.

To everyone out there working hard to maintain, to care, to make a difference You matter. And I pray you find the same kind of unexpected encouragement that found me today.

I left today with a bunch of goodies written down for me to look into and for me to share with others. I feel so inspired and thankful for where our community is going.
