7 Things Sunday… Crossing the River…3.30.25

Hey Google people!

Happy Sunday

Here’s where my heart is today.

Imagine being a kid who’s been taught to be afraid to cross the river. AND one day you cross it and over a period of time everything in your life changes.

When I was 19 I went across the interstate to explore the possibility of finding a job. I was a college student with no direction. I’d worked at Sonic for 2 years and because of some choices that I made I decided it was best for me to leave. I spent a month not leaving my house and when I did I stepped into the brown doors of my future.

I walked into the doors of McAlisters Deli, a place I’d only been to once  prior, with a friend and her mom in the 7th grade. I felt like I’d walked into a world of new possibilities. For the next 10 years it was basically my 2nd home. Literally. If you are in my area Google it  and a picture of my vehicle will pop up with it. WILD

A lot of people don’t have the luxury of pin pointing when their  life changed without it being followed by trauma. I can clearly see my successes  and my failures but I was supported.

I’m grateful for all of the learning that brought me to where I am.

7 Things

  1. Customer service is a skill EvERYONE needs.
  2. Working at McAlister’s taught me to create an experience. Where it was 30 secs or 3 mins.
  3. I learned about mega churches and denominations.
  4. I saw families operating in several different ways.
  5. Counting money isn’t a skill everyone has.
  6. People don’t respect others time.
  7. People with power are the ones you least expect.

Thats the message ! Cross the river break the tradition that doesn’t serve you and see what it does for YOU.
