7 Things Sunday... To do lists... 2.16.25
Hey good people!
It's been a couple weeks. I've seen my newsletter as an item on my to do list for weeks and I have just left it unchecked. To do lists are how I get stuff done however I have been very nonchalant about things being unchecked. This new year has began and I feel like I am taking a really slow and easy going approach to it. I know things are going to get done so I'm not seeing a reason to rush getting them done earlier. I carved out 2 hours to get some business stuff done and at due to some tech issues everything is coming together in the last 30 mins. See how life is lifie-ing. It's kinda like this weather, you wake up and get one thing one day and something else completely different the next.
7 things...
- How was everyone's Valentines Day? I made a big deal for the girls this year. Before Dirt Cheap went out of business ( RIP) I bought so many activities and things to do to make sure I did NOT buy anything full price for the holiday. I pulled all that stuff out the shop and that's what we've been working with this month. Gram's birthday is on Valentines Day, so we celebrated her too! Shout out to Brookshires for this beautiful cake. Also Pizza Hut had heart shaped pizza's all week so I grabbed one. Super cute and super good!
At work, we played Bingo and I wore this BANGING outfit! Universal Thread, I'll try and find the link for you. I bought it in December and was saving it for this very day.
- Let's talk about TARGET, Walmart, Amazon... I was talking to a friend the other day about it all and we were discussing where we were going to shop, and who we were giving our money to. If you don't know why these brands are on our poop list, I'll link some sites.
Where we live is pretty rural, we have 1 Target thats been around since 2000/2002, we use to have 1 Walmart and then about 2 years ago 4 neighborhood markets popped up. A couple Brookshires and a Macs. So we are limited on in terms of where our monies can be spent. For most people Walmart is where they gather your home items and groceries, due to proximity, cost etc. Amazon just got a warehouse here and although we don't quite have the same perks as other cities it has been hugely beneficial for our community in terms of specialty items and jobs.
As someone who had a budget for Target and would literally go to the store 2x a week at least, I am disappointed in the changes they have made. It was refreshing to see a retailer put forth effort in allowing opportunities for small business owners of color to be successful in such a large market. I've read countless articles, books, and internet interviews on how the people in the corp, have made it their business to be concerned and helpful into making sustainable change in POC lives, and communities. So it was hard for me to see all that be taken away.
I am making it a point to NOT spend my allotted monies there. At the moment I have decided to only buy things there that are on steep discount, because those discounted items are needed for my household or family and there is no where else I could get said things for the price offered.
It's like getting in a relationship with someone and after a couple of years they changed into a terrible person. As for Walmart and Amazon, I didn't have expectations for them to begin with and so although I am sadden to not be cared for, they'd already been in my review mirror. Does that make sense?
3. I've been KILLING IT at Estate Sales. It meets my wants for shopping and looking at houses.
4. I found this nail polish in my couponing group and I LOVE IT. However I didn't have a gel dyer so I had to take it off. I looking forward to trying again tonight.
5. I'm working on a house and the painting has given me so much grief. I usually love painting. However everything else has really filled my heart with joy. Restoration is really a blessing.
6. Speaking of joy, Stretch + Vibe, is getting me RIGHT. My mind and body is literally changing before my eyes. I am so thankful that 1 i prioritize moving my body and 2 that I have the opportunity to work on it.
7. I've been reading quite a bit! I joined
Wea book club. This week we'll have our 3rd meeting and I'm excited to chat.
That's in + all.
