Hey good people, how is it going? Happy Sunday. I hope everyone is well.
We are still recovering here in Northeast Louisiana. I do not think I fully understood the magnitude of how catastrophic this storm truly was for our area. The number was somewhere around 60,000 people without power, which is something we have never experienced at this level before. Everywhere you look there are limbs and trees split two and three ways. Piles of debris line the roads. You can see where people have worked hard clearing their yards.
In a strange way, it has been both heartbreaking and beautiful. Beautiful because of the way people have come together. Yesterday when I went for a walk, neighbors were outside working, helping, and cleaning. There are still places that are dangerous. Poles are down. Lines are hanging low. Some families are still without power. If you are one of those families, I pray you are safe, warm, and cared for. I hope the warmer weekend helped you rest, and gather what your family needs. We are healing.
This week, I have also been thinking deeply my fitness goals. I got serious about fitness in 2020. I've never been shy about working out. I knew I needed it. My weight was never not a conversation but during that season I got myself together. I fell in love with Peloton and yoga. Yoga especially because I had always loved it but I wasn't sure if it loved me. But as life reopened and routines shifted, my consistency faded. I did not return to where I once was, but I know there is more.
I have 92 weeks until I turn 40, and it is important to me that I become the person I see in my mind. I know it sounds funny, but I feel like I have been waiting for 40 since I was 25. I'm a futuristic thinker. I truly believe my 40s will be a season of elevation, growth, and fulfillment. I will watch my children blossom, and as they grow, I will grow too. I have lived a beautiful life already, but I know there is still so much more ahead.
I reached out to my best friends and told them I want to celebrate my 40th birthday on a beach. We have started planning, and it feels exciting to imagine what that moment will look like.
But before that celebration comes the work.
For the month of February, I committed to a daily challenge. Every day I will complete one mile, 5 mins of rowing, and do 25 sit ups. I am logging the journey publicly for accountability and encouragement. You can follow along on Instagram @ambitious.alisa where I will be posting each day. My goal is to lose 35 pounds, something I believe is realistic and attainable. If I reach that and feel strong and happy, I will maintain. If I feel called to push further, I will. That is the beauty of goals. Only you truly know how far you can go, and if you never try, you will never know what you are capable of becoming.
You all know I love a good bike ride around the neighborhood or walks. My girls are now in track and have watched me on my walking pad, wanting to join in. Spring is about 5 weeks away, which means more sunshine, more movement, and more time outside. I am hoping to return to Pilates now that life is settling into a better rhythm. For a while, my schedule made it difficult, but I think I can work it in!
If you are thinking about starting your own journey, message me on Instagram @ambitious.alisa and lets chat. I will be showing up daily, and I hope it inspires someone else to begin.
That's all I got! I hope you guys have a good week!
Dont, be shy, Let's be social.
