Success...2.15.2026

Hey good people, how’s it going? Happy Sunday. I hope everyone is well and that you had a really good week.

This week was a good week busy, but good. We had training, and you already know I love being in educational spaces. This week when training ended, I’d go straight into after-school pickups, and moving kids from one place to the next. It made the days a little more hectic than usual.

By Friday, I found myself sitting in my daughters school office talking to my daughter, taking a breather. I stayed a little longer than I planned  but long enough to realize I needed a moment.

This week also brought exciting news. I was selected to serve as a panelist for the upcoming Women’s Symposium. I’ve attended this event for four or five years, and every time I leave encouraged. So being nominated to be on the panel is truly an honor.

For those who may not know, the Women’s Symposium is a conference that uplifts and empowers women across different sectors: art, education, health, leadership, and service. There are speakers, awards, and vendors. Some of my favorite memories include hearing a physician share her journey to medical school and how her journey has shaped her.

This year’s symposium will be held March 18th at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. I’ll be sitting on a panel focused on mental health and sciences alongside three incredible women (all doctors). Yes, I’m the only one without a PhD, and yes, that feels a little intimidating. But more than anything, I’m excited to learn, and live outside of my comfort zone. Last year, I made a promise to myself to ask more questions, and to step into spaces that challenge me. This COMPLETELY aligns with this.

Right now my biggest concern is figuring out what I’m going to wear to two different events. But I’m thankful I won’t be alone. My friend from church, Dr. Jamil Norman, will also be on the panel, so I’ll have a set of friendly eyes in the room if the nerves kick in.

So here’s the word for today:

Do not overlook your everyday life's success.

I’ve spent most of my life on the internet. I got my first computer, a Gateway,  when I was 12 years old, and it opened my eyes to the world. Between that, traveling consistently when I was young, and yes, MTV, my view of life expanded early. Even when I didn’t always see people who looked like me in those spaces, I never believed I didn’t belong there. I always thought, “They’re there doing XYZ so can I"

That mindset shaped me. I’ve written online journals, blogs, and now I’m here still — still telling stories. Because of this life our real, everyday life, I’ve written children’s books, created spaces for joy, and built something meaningful in my own way.

And that, my friends, is success.

Sometimes success doesn’t look like awards, titles, or big stages. Success looks like showing up, loving yourself and others, pursuing growth, and building something day by day.

Don’t overlook your life. You are doing better than you think.

And because of this life, it has allowed me to write my children’s books. It has allowed me to share through blog posts, and connect with different people.

I have also created traditions like taking family photos every single year. Just last night, I sat at my dinner table looking back at year two of marriage, year three, and all the years that followed, and I realized every season carries a story.

All of these moments, big and small, have built a level of success in my life. Now, some people measure success by money or popularity. And while we are blessed and well taken care of, I am still a normal person with normal problems. I believe that reality has allowed me to remain approachable and, hopefully, inspiring to those who desire a life rooted in love, intention, and growth.

So here’s the reminder:

Open your eyes and view your life as success.

And if there are areas you want to improve, improve. Seek a mentor. Immerse yourself in the spaces you want to see flourish in your life. Grow with intention and always move with a humble heart, because humility keeps you grounded while growth moves you forward.

Never stop learning. Never stop evolving. The world is always changing, and we should be willing to grow alongside it.

That’s all I’ve got !

Don't be shy, Let's be social.
